Nicolene Murdoch, Executive director: teaching, Learning and quality
Nicole Murdoch, Executive director for Teaching, learning and quality at Monash South Africa gave a press conference on Friday the 18th of October, where she discussed the Laureate and Monash South Africa partnership from her point of view.
After being made aware of the partnership between the two organisations, one of the major concerns that students were struggling with was if and how the partnership was going to affect the quality of their degrees. Nicolene set the record straight stating that even though the partnership between Monash and Laureate has taken place, the value and quality of the degrees that are currently offered my Monash itself will not change.
The partnership has allowed Monash to “open up a whole new world of new programs and of sourcing content” says, Nicolene. She also went on to say that the partnership is “about being able to increase the quality of our provision” and being able to help Monash offer more for its current and future students. In addition, she added that from next year on, students are going to start seeing changes taking place as a result of the partnership. From 2014 new courses are going to be introduced to accommodate the variety of students at Monash and also attract more students.
Another advantage coming from this partnership is that Monash now has access to over 72 other top class high level institutes. This will not only help Monash reach its goal but options for the places that students can attend as exchange students is now even broader. Some of the students still remain skeptical but now whats left to do is to wait, see how things will go from next year onward and just hope that the Monash brand will truly remain protected.
